WHAT ARE MICRO-CREDENTIALS
Micro-credentials are short, targeted learning experiences that certify specific skills or competencies. To ensure quality in training design and delivery, the European council defined a framework around micro-credentials, describing what they need to fulfill.
USE OF MICRO-CREDENTIALS FOR RI STAFF TRAINING
As such, they can be used to develop and deliver good quality training for Research infrastructure scientists, supporting the professionalisation of RI staff by validating expertise, enhancing career development, and promoting cross-institutional recognition.
SELF-CHECK TABLE TO EVALUATE ALIGNMENT OF A COURSE WITH THE EC REQUIREMENT FOR MICRO-CREDENTIAL
While working for BioNT project, we needed to evaluate how much the BioNT courses fit the EC defined requirements for the micro-credentials.
To be able to collect the information together with other partners on the consortium, RIcapacity developed a table that can be used to self-check which elements of course organisation and certification match the micro-credentials requirements,
BioNT provides certificates for all courses organized by the consortia.
Using this table, we were able to get a clear overview of which requirements our course satisfy and where there is a space for improvements. For example, our courses and certificates to a good extent fulfill the micro-credentials requirements set by the European Council in this document, but not to all, as we do not perform structured assessment for all our courses, and therefore we are not issuing official micro-credentials.
